We proudly celebrated the opening of The Grundy Library, honouring our school’s heritage and inspiring a new generation of readers.
On Friday, our school community celebrated an important milestone with the official opening of The Grundy Library, a new space dedicated to nurturing curiosity, inspiring imagination and fostering a lifelong love of reading.
The event was made especially meaningful by the presence of Mr. Grundy, who travelled from England to join us for the occasion. As the son of Bill and Nora Grundy, founders of Perrott Hill in 1946, his visit created a powerful link between our school’s past and our future. The library now proudly bears the Grundy family name in recognition of their enduring commitment to education and the values on which our school was built.

Our Student Council and Reading Ambassadors had the honour of hosting the ceremony and welcoming Mr. Grundy to our campus. They guided him through the new space, shared how the library will support student learning, and explained the initiatives they are leading to promote reading across the school. Their confidence and enthusiasm set a warm and celebratory tone for the day.
During his visit, Mr. Grundy spoke with students about his childhood, his memories of growing up around the original Perrott Hill School in the UK, and the importance of books in shaping both knowledge and character. Students asked thoughtful questions about school life in the 1940s, the challenges and joys of that era, and the legacy his parents hoped to leave. Their curiosity, respect and genuine engagement highlighted the strength of our learning community.

As the ribbon was cut and The Grundy Library officially opened its doors, there was a real sense of excitement for all that this new space will offer. From quiet reading corners to collaborative study areas, the library has been designed to support diverse learning styles and to become a central hub of academic and creative life on campus.

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing our school with such maturity and warmth. Their leadership played a key role in making the day memorable, and we look forward to seeing how they—and all our students—continue to grow as readers, thinkers and global citizens through their use of this beautiful new facility.
